Online Counseling
Online counseling is done both in a group setting and individual basis with a qualified therapist over the internet by email, chat, video, or a combination. This provides the patient with conveniences such as not having to travel, maintaining some form of anonymity and a window of accessibility. Body language and inflection and tone are lost on the strictly type/no voice sessions though, which can lead to misunderstandings. However, it is though patient are less embarrassed and can omit the "getting comfortable" stage. Optimally, online counseling would be used as an adjunct to traditional psychosocial therapy.
